Your Apartment is Showing

So here’s the deal. I need you. I didn’t want to tell you this — I didn’t want to expose my weakness. But it’s true, dear readers: I need you.

BackGarage’s At Home posts are some of the most popular on the site. They’re fun to look at and they’re really fun for me to photograph and write. But folks are shy. They don’t want to jump out and say, “Hey — I have a really sweet place that should be on BackGarage.” And that’s where the best At Home posts come from.

So I’m putting it out there — do you live in a sweet abode in the greater Chicagoland area? Don’t be shy: nominate yourself for an At Home post. All it takes is an email. Tell me about your place, what neighborhood or ‘burb you live in, and send me a picture or two, or point me to your photostream.

To calm your fears:

  • Your place doesn’t have to be perfect. No one’s is. In fact, it’s more inspiring if it’s not.
  • I make it a pretty painless process, chatting with you on a home tour for about 30 minutes, then spending the next 30 or so taking pictures in different rooms. Unless you start serving grapefruit and vodkas like this fine lady and we get to chatting. Then it’ll take about 4 hours.
  • You get exposure for your own blog, Etsy store, etc. Can’t hurt!

So c’mon: show a little apartment! I need you.
