Some people run with the opinion that a couch is hard to thrift. These photos provide proof it’s not. Why spend thousands of dollars on seating when, for around $100, you can create a beautiful room with a space to sit that’s kid friendly, pet friendly, and red wine friendly (maybe all three at the same time) — because if it gets ruined, a new one is just another $100 away. These are all such great couches. I have been searching cragslist for a couch to replace my horrible futon for months. All I seem to come up with is the really fugly florals and stripes that are popular in the deep south and they always want like 200-400 bucks. Check out Hattiesburg Mississippi craigslist for all the tragedies. Loving MCM in the deep south is painful.
Sounds like a challenge maybe an “on the road” Craigslist post can help solve….
When I moved into my co-op apartment I really wanted a thrifted sofa. However, I have the world’s narrowest entry hallway and ended up buying the smallest new low-profile mid-century style sofa that I could find. Even then I had to ensure that the legs unscrewed and had to take the entry door off. The sofa is very nice but I long for a big comfy one to take naps on.
The sofas shown are quite sweet.

Ooooooohhhh, I love all of these. Especially the blue velvet one. Exactly one weekend after I finally broke down and bought a brand new couch, after looking for a thrifted/yard sale/estate sale one for years, I found the most awesome couch ever at an estate sale — neutral color, in great shape, and so, so comfortable — for $150. ARGH.
