I love the way just about any piece of modern furniture looks with a vintage crocheted afghan thrown on top of it.

I’m sorry, but I’m LOL! My grandma used to make afghans, so we have TONS of them. In particular an olive green, rust and mustard yellow number with the exact same pattern of that first picture you posted
