Draining of Hot Water Tank

I found this — actually, it was a stack of 6 of these dating back to 1977 — while listing some of the stuff I recently bought at an estate sale on Etsy.
I know some people have aversions to digging around in other people’s homes and therefore avoid estate sales. They don’t like the idea of picking over a dead person’s stuff. (Even though, I contend, most estates being sold belong to the living en route to Florida.)
But I like it. I like sorting through people’s lives. I like imagining who they might’ve been, where they were employed, what their interests were, what unrealized goals they had.
A seemingly meaningless scrap like this tells you so much about the person who lived there.
I like knowing that the stuff in my shop belonged to someone who took meticulous notes on draining the water heater. This particular sheet encompasses the time period in which I, and most of my friends, were born.

This person amazes me! It’s recommend that one drain one’s hot water heater once a year – if that often. This person drained his water heater once a WEEK! Each time 35 – 40 gallons of water went down the drain.
I haven’t decided yet what I think of that…
Decidedly curious.
One thing we can say for certain. This person was NOT sedimental.
(Sorry) – (No, not really…)
