Friday Morning Estate Sale

Jem and I went to an estate sale Friday morning. I went because it was close to my house and, from the ad, appeared to have a lot of metal stuff — which I’m way into right now.
We got there at 8:55 and had to wait for about 45 minutes outside before being let in. I’m usually more of a fan of going to estate sales on the second day, as I don’t like waiting outside like this, but every once in a while I get the itch to get first dibs.

Score! Sometimes I feel like the scrap metal guys that drive around alleys when I assess all my loot.
I got a bunch of metal file drawers, a metal cabinet, a few metal bins and files, industrial office stuff, and this pig mask!

Sexy. Actually, I was walking around the estate sale with this mask on top of my head (easier to carry with out breaking!) to everyone’s amusement.
Here’s some of the loot at home:

Soon to appear — in much prettier format — on Etsy.
Of note — I found these in the basement.

While I was adding them to the stash in my arms Jem was like, “You don’t want those.” Which reminded me to remind him — and tell you guys — about this rule I have at estate sales. You never tell someone not to buy something unless they’re specifically asking for your opinion. If you’ve been going to estate sales for a long time, like I have, some of your “finds” tend to border on the bizarre. That’s what makes them good. You shouldn’t have to explain why you’re buying it.
I mean, I didn’t look twice at Libby when she bought this at Stop Look the other day.
Then Jem had a fantastic and bizarre find of this own:

Can you believe it? How did he know? I guess it’s starting to rub off…

I LOVE what you guys brought back. I wonder what the previous owners did with all those metal filing boxes and such????
I’m in the same gravy boat as you and am way into the metals right now. Metals combined with woods – even better!
Great finds!
